England selectors today announced a 13-man squad for the 1st Investec Ashes Test beginning on Wednesday July 8 at the SSE SWALEC, Cardiff. “Just in case something happens to one of those guys we’ve got someone there ready to go.”

Rashid was told before England went off to their training camp in Spain that he was very much in contention, but that it was felt he was better off playing in Yorkshire’s championship match against Durham.
